Fins & Feathers: May 12 Madison River Fishing Report Yesterday afternoon there were good numbers of bugs on the Lower Madison and visibility was acceptable but for the most part the fishing was subsurface. Eggs and Prince Nymphs did better than Elk Hairs, even with lots of caddis out and about.

Bozeman Angler: May 9 SW Montana Fishing Report Things are cold and wet today with more high elevation snow tonight predicted. Some rivers are getting their spring color to them while others are still a great option to wet a line.

Park's Fly Shop: May 11 Yellowstone River(Gardiner to Emigrant) Report In the early stages of spring runoff. Unlikely to clear again before July 10 or so. There's a SMALL chance it will clear up again late next week, but we doubt it.

Blue Ribbon Flies: May 5 Madison River Report During dinner last evening Jackie and I noticed midges hovering over the trees off our dining room window. I wolfed my elk steak down, grabbed my fishing gear and headed to the river near Story access arriving around 6pm. Clear, calm conditions with 52 degrees and lots of midges in the air.

Yellowstone Angler: May 13 Yellowstone River Report CFS has been rising steadily both in town and at Corwin. We're already starting to see more sticks, logs, and debris floating down the pike - a good sign that runoff has arrived.

Tight Line Adventures: May 9 Big Hole and Beaverhead River Fishing Report Big Hole River Fishing Report
A new phenomenon has occurred in Southwest Montana, instead of snow in the valley we have rain! The grass is now beaming a lush green rather than being covered in 6″ of white snow. Spring is here!

Montana Angler's West: May 11 Paradise Valley Spring Creeks Fishing Report Like everywhere, the consistent fishing means is nymphing. Think small, skinny tied flies and light tippets. Nymph rigs don't necessarily have to be very deep. Certainly not like on the bigger area rivers. 2-3 feet from a very small pinch on indicator to fly is sometimes all that's needed.

Montana Angler's West: May 11 Missouri River Fishing Report Going over 10,000 in flow as of yesterday. Little Prickly Pear, Wagner, Stickney Creeks as well as the Dearborn all seemed to have topped out and are on the drop now so not as much off colored and debris filled water will be adding to the MO. Clarity will be improving.
