Montana Troutfitters: May 12 Missouri River Report

Still getting good reports on the Missouri. Best between the Dam and Craig; while Craig to Dearborn is spotty, with some mud dumping in sections so fish the leftside if you go. Really few fishing in Canyon right now. Nymphing remains the main tactic to taking lots of fish, with your indicator to split shot at about 8 1/2'. Anything with a firebead have been fishing well, as have some big scuds and san juan worms...

Watch the flow charts, she's up to 12,400 right now, so bring long leaders, fish the seams, and bring lots of weight! It's definitely going to be mostly a nymphing game from here on out because the flows aren't going to be subside anytime soon... Fishing reports have been decent, your standard san juan worms and tailwater fare of sow bugs/scuds and pink is still a preferred color!

The Beaver Creek stuff is still happening, the rainbows are still on beds though not as much, eggs for spawners, or be sporting and fish below the black bellied rainbows for the chrome browns, it just takes a bit more skill.
